Coaching Basketball

About Me: Past Events

Basketball

I played basketball competitively since 5th grade. I trained anytime I could to ensure that when I got to high school I would have a starting spot on varsity. I was weeks away from attaining my goal until I tore my ACL and meniscus in 2015. I followed that by breaking my foot in 2016. I started my junior year, but then one day before my senior year I got a severe concussion, whiplash, and a broken nose.

Through it all I still managed to gain the attention of division 1 colleges. However, I realized that I needed to put my health first and focus on myself. Giving up basketball was the hardest decision of my life, but the perspective I gained from all the battles I've faced will stick with me forever.

Losing the only thing I defined myself with led me to understand my purpose. It shaped me into who I am today.

Changing majors

A defining moment in my college career and the biggest life choice I have made so far is changing my major. I was very hesitant at first because I thought I was too far into my college career to make such a drastic change.

After talking it over with my parents I chose to make the choice that scared me the most. Sure changing majors as I was half way through college is scary, but it was also necessary. I have found a major that I am passionate about and look forward to learning about.

This has taught me that change, as scary as it may be, is also the best avenue for growth.

Not everything in life needs to be rushed. Your best work usually comes from attention to detail and consistently working hard over a long period of time.
